All features
Plan a route once. It runs on the days you say.
A route is a template. It holds the stops in order, a target arrive and depart time at each one, and the days of the week it runs. Journey creates the runs ahead of time and puts them on the roster, so nobody re-types Tuesday.
From template to roster
It takes four steps, and three of them happen on their own.
- Build the templateAdd the stops, target times, rounds, tasks and standing instructions, pick the days of the week, and set a default driver and vehicle.
- PublishDrivers get the published version. You can edit freely, and nothing changes on the road until you publish again.
- Runs appearEvery night, Journey creates a run for each day the route is due over the next two weeks.
- The roster fillsAssigned runs go to their driver. Unassigned ones sit on the rack for whoever takes them.
Rounds
Group stops into rounds instead of one long list.
The driver sees Downtown, then Westside, then the bakery. Each round keeps its own order, so a route that returns to the depot mid-morning reads the way the day actually goes.
Publishing
Change the route, and future runs follow.
Publishing updates every future run that hasn't started. Runs on days the route no longer covers are cancelled, with the reason logged. Runs already under way are left alone. Every version is kept, so you can see what a run was built from.
Also in here
The smaller details are in here too.
- LocationsEach location has an address, coordinates, a colour, and standing instructions the driver sees at the stop, like "Back door, ring twice."
- SchedulesYou set the days of the week, an end date if there is one, and a start time that the target times count from.
- Stop tasksYou say what must happen at a stop, whether it's optional or required, and on which days.
- DefaultsA route can have a default driver and vehicle, so most runs need no assignment at all.
- VersionsEvery publish is kept, and a run shows the version it was made from.
- MergingTwo routes that have grown together can be merged stop by stop without losing their history.
